About the Augustów Meadery
Augustowska Miodosytnia was founded by two friends, Piotr Piłasiewicz and Paweł Kotwica. The idea of establishing the Augustów Meadery was born from their involvement in restoring beekeeping and the desire to share their experiences with home-made meadmaking. As in the case of beekeeping, mead making is a beautiful old Polish tradition that has been pushed out of the market and public awareness by popularizing more economical forms of production. We opened the Augustów Mead Plant to traditionally produce the highest quality meads, using only natural raw materials obtained from the Augustowska Forest and neighboring areas. Part of the profits is allocated to the development of beekeeping by supporting the activities of the Beekeeping Brotherhood, from which the founders come. The recipes of honey produced in the Augustów Miodosytnia are drawn from the rich mead-making tradition of the Republic of Poland and Lithuania. The owners want to recreate the flavors that delighted our ancestors. According to this principle, Augustowska Miodosytnia was the first in Poland to start producing the forgotten Zbicień, a honey based beer.
